A moving permanent magnet transmits the position to the measuring system – either guided directly by the customer's design or via a magnetic slide that is moved by the machine using ball joint shafts. The flat design in a robust profile housing allows direct mounting on the machine body and ensures easy integration into existing designs. The new Economy family – compact and cost-efficient With a typical resolution of 0.1 mm, the Economy series is ideal as a replacement for wear-prone linear potentiometers. The analog interface allows direct retrofitting without changes to the control system. edgeConnector Modbus - Software Module for Connecting Modbus TCP Controllers to Industrial IoT Applications
As a flexible Docker container is dataFEED edgeConnector Modbus suitable for accessing Modbus TCP controllers, e.g. from Schneider Electric, Wago, Beckhoff or Phoenix Contact. In addition, many other manufacturers also support the open communication interface Modbus TCP. The product has an integrated OPC UA Server for simple and secure data connectivity to higher-level management systems, such as ERP, MES or SCADA systems. As part of an overall solution architecture the implemented OPC UA communication protocol can also be used for data exchange with other Docker containers such as Microsoft OPC Publisher or AWS IoT SiteWise. In addition, an MQTT interface is available for direct integration of control data into private or public IoT cloud applications, supporting a variety of different cloud providers. Like OPC UA, MQTT also provides modern security mechanisms such as encryption, certificate management and user authentication, thus contributing to high data security. dataFEED edgeConnector Modbus can be managed locally via a web interface or remotely via a REST API. edgeConnector Siemens connects Siemens SIMATIC S7-300/400, and S7-1200/1500 controller and provides access to data via an OPC UA server interface. As a docker container, it offers flexible deployment options, for example on devices running Azure IoT Edge or AWS IoT Greengrass. The application is easy to configure locally via a built-in Web interface. It can also be managed remotely via its REST API. Configuration is flexible and includes fine-tuned security settings (e.g. role based access rights for OPC UA client applications). As a first strategic extension of Softing’s dataFEED product family into virtualization- and container technology, the new product leverages Softing deep experience with brownfield connectivity with MQTT and OPC UA technology, and makes it available for new and highly efficient IoT solution architectures.

Effective protection of open interfaces
Unprotected interfaces on machines, like USB ports and Ethernet interfaces, may become an open gate for malware or data manipulation. In order to avoid this, 2BSecure was developed. With this system, the interfaces will be deactivated by default, limiting the acces to authorised personnel. A manual activation via key switch or RFID ensures that only authorised persons can activate the interface and thus enabling data transmission. The limitation to authorised personnel furthermore not only protects the machine control, but also sensible data within the whole network. 2BSecure was developed as a compact black box solution that is being installed between the interface and the end device. The black box is usually well protected within the machine, so there are no particular technical requirements for degree of protection and temperature. The connection is provided via a connection block with a rated voltage of 24 V, as is typical for the usual end systems. The interfaces fulfil the normal requirements for USB-A, USB-C and Ethernet. The dimensions of the black box are very compact with 50 x 60 x 17 mm. 2BSecure can be implemented without great effort in exsting machine and IT infrastructures. The control of the black box is conducted through the end device which guarantees a seamless and user-friendly implementation. 2BSecure can also be adjusted to different requirements and applications areas, be it the manufacturing industry, energy sector or critical infrastructure. High legal protection requirements With the control of open interfaces, 2BSecure contributes to comply with the strict requirements of the new EU machine directive 2027 as well as the NIS ("Network and Information Security") 2.0 directive of the EU. Those obligate companies that work in manufacturing, the energy or transportation sector to prove that their machines and networks are protected against unauthorised access.

Efficient Release Aid for Push-Pull Circular Connectors of the Y-Circ P Series
The successful Y-Circ P series of push-pull circular connectors from Yamaichi Electronics is being expanded with a new release system. The opening assistance is compatible with all straight and angled cable connectors of the Y-Circ P series and can be used for all standard sizes. With its facilitating release function, this accessory helps the user to gain full advantage of the push-pull connectors – especially within tight mounting spaces. Merely pulling on the lanyard leads to an unlocking effect for the push-pull circular connector. The lanyard extends the circular connector to a certain extent. Therefore, the push-pull system´s feature and advantages completely maintain. An increase in time-efficiency can be gained through a better accessibility of the unlocking device, on behalf of extremely tight connector positions. Reason being the circular connectors are accessible and can be pulled without much effort. Yamaichi Electronics offers new products of the Y-Circ P series in a pre-assembled condition. The new release system can be used immediately after delivery. On the other hand, the unlocking aid is offered as a retrofit kit for field assembly. Customers who have already purchased circular connectors can easily assemble the unlocking aid themselves without suffering any functional disadvantages compared to the product with pre-assembled unlocking relief.
