For dynamic positioning applications Ballscrews and trapezoidal screw drives transform a rotational into a longitudial motion and vice versa. Rodriguez offers both types of threaded spindles in both metric and imperial dimensions and in all major industry standards. Thereby, ballscrews, which work with balls as rolling elements, offer a higher efficiency than trapezoidalscrews which is exposed to a sliding friction. Similarly, a ballscrew is preferably used for dynamic positioning applications during a continuous operation. Trapezoidalscrews on the other hand are ideal for slow movements or clamping tasks with a short duty cycle. Ballscrew with driven ballnut AMFH For conventional ballscrews speed is an obstacle for the implementation in many industrial applications. The longer the ballscrew spindle, the higher the risk will be that the required speed cannot be achieved due to the critical revolution-speed of the spindle. In these cases we recommend the use of a ballscrew with a driven ballnut. The combination of custom ballscrew nut, axial angular contact ball bearings and and a precision threaded nut will yield a powerful, toothed belt driven unit that delivers optimum results even at high speeds. Upon request, a corresponding drive wheel can also be integrated.

Monitoring of battery energy storage systems (BESS) The battery symmetry monitor UH 9830 from the VARIMETER series monitors battery energy storage systems (BESS) that are used in particular in the area of emergency power supply or power generation. The device monitors the battery symmetry with a centre tap. By splitting into two strings with the same number of battery blocks, voltage differences and thus the failure of a single battery cell or a single block are recognised directly and reported as a fault. Batteryless and maintenance-free position display SeGMo-Assist
The SeGMo-Assist digital position display from Lenord+Bauer, which is used for guided, semi-automated format adjustment above all in packaging processes, is the only batteryless system available on the market incorporating a full graphic display. Low life-cycle costs make this system an impressive solution. Fully manual format adjustment does not meet the standards for quality, reproducibility and traceability required by many applications. One solution is to add digital position displays. However, in many instances these displays are battery-powered. The Federal Environmental Agency estimates that 65,000 tonnes of device batteries are placed on the market in Germany alone every year. These batteries may contain toxic heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium and lead. The SeGMo-Assist digital position display is an environmentally friendly choice as its electrical parts are maintenance-free. It comprises an integrated multiturn absolute rotary encoder that does not require a backup battery. Dispensing with battery replacement translates into both ecological and economic advantages with reduced operating costs as unscheduled system downtimes due to insufficient power supply to the position displays are not needed. The OLED display with background lighting displays the actual and nominal positions, the direction of rotation as well as the operating states. Status and warning messages are easy to read at a distance of a few meters. Up to forty customer-specific pictograms can be uploaded using the easy-to-use software tool. Rolling bearings of all sizes are critical machine elements whose reliable operation directly affects the performance, longevity, and safety of entire machines and systems. Consequently, it is essential to evaluate the performance of lubricants under conditions that closely resemble actual applications. A variety of standardized and custom tests are available for this purpose. Among the most established are the FE8 test (DIN 51819) and the FE9 test (DIN 51821). Despite the complexity and cost of these tests, the number of recorded parameters is often limited. For instance, the FE8 test typically measures only torque over time (including mean friction torque during start-up and steady-state operation), mass wear, and possibly the time to failure. This limited data collection hampers the extraction of deeper scientific insights that could drive targeted lubricant or system development. Modern, application-oriented tribometry – referred to as "Tribometry 4.0" – aims to overcome these limitations using advanced sensor technologies, intelligent test protocols, and comprehensive data analytics including AI. Our high-frequency impedance measurement provides valuable information on surface conditions and the lubrication film in both mixed and (elasto-)hydrodynamic friction regimes. In various applications it could be shown, that valuable information for lubricant development is achieved: • Stribeck curve in real application, especially transitions from boundary to mixed and to hydrodynamic lubrication • Pitting development from initiation to particle release • Development of surface layers, protective reaction layers or varnish • Development of oil ageing: particle generation, contamination. Thus, equipping your bearing test rigs and tribometers with our sensor technology will open the avenue for gaining deep scientific insights into tribological and lubrication phenomena.
