AcuGrip-TC: Quick Changes for Variable Manufacturing. The AcuGrip-TC quick-change gripper system is characterized by its flexibility and process reliability. It enables the integration of both pneumatic and mechatronic gripping systems. With five sizes, the product range covers maximum tensile forces from 4 to 36 kN and standard load capacities from 10 to 630 kg; higher load capacities are available as options. This allows the system to be used for a wide range of applications, from assembly and handling processes to machine loading with heavier workpieces. SMW provides the transfer modules in a modular system. This allows both pneumatic and electrical connections to be made via various interfaces. Depending on the size, the system ensures gripper centering with a repeatability of ± 0.0015 mm to ± 0.01 mm. Locking is pneumatic, and an integrated sensor transmits its status. The AcuGrip-TC ensures fast, automatic gripper and tool changes, which also guarantees short setup times with maximum safety even with a wide variety of variants.

In the course of Industry 4.0, the transmission of important data from the OT environment to IT systems or cloud solutions is required. The gateway GW-01 was specially developed for this. Equipped with 2 independent LAN interfaces and serial RS232/RS485, these gateways can communicate with many controllers thanks to over 500 communication protocols. The second LAN interface can be used to connect to the IT world. OPC UA or MQTT are available for this. A connection to databases such as MySQL or MSSQL is also possible. The GW-01 is configured via the integrated web-based platform iM-Connect. This includes functions such as alarm handling, data logging or the programming of your own functions using macros. The scope of delivery includes a USB stick on which the configuration can be saved for recovery purposes. The supply voltage is 24 VDC. The compact metal housing is intended for control cabinet mounting. With the extended temperature range of -20…+70°C, the GW-01 is ideal for many industrial applications such as mechanical engineering where robust and durable solutions are required.

The Company GEORG SCHLEGEL received the renowned Focus Award in silver from the Design Center Baden-Württemberg for the new MK contact block. "We are very happy about this award. The award further proves that we at SCHLEGEL always think about good design, even for product developments that are not so conspicuous," says Christoph Schlegel. The award is also valuable because the Design Center Baden-Württemberg is an independent institution and has no commercial intentions. The design quality is an important characteristic for a design award – but it is certainly not the only one. The independent jurors also pay attention to the functionality, the level of innovation, ergonomics and utility. The MK also convinces in these categories: lower, smaller, more modular – these are the characteristics of the MK. With the MK we succeeded in developing an extremely compact and powerful contact block, having a straight-lined aesthetics. Thanks to the well thought-out structure, the MK has a mounting depth of only 17.6 mm. The distinct colourings of the NO, NC and LED module facilitate the handling. The contact blocks can be combined and mounted in the module holder as required. Bachmann electronic is presenting the MX208 CPU, a new entry-level model in the proven MX series. Thanks to its high robustness in combination with very compact dimensions, the processor module is particularly suitable for uses in the maritime area. A new processor platform is at the heart of the MX208: An x86/Intel Atom processor with 400 MHz provides increased computing power, especially for small to medium-sized applications: Performance is up to four times higher than its predecessor, the MX207. The working memory has significantly increased to 512 MB. Despite its compact design, the MX208 integrates a power supply unit that can also operate the I/O modules, as well as a wide range of communication interfaces. These include a Gigabit Ethernet port, configurable serial interface, USB 3.0 connection, and galvanically isolated CAN interface. This allows use in fields such as machine control, complex communication tasks, or condition monitoring. One key innovation of the new MX generation is the use of the VxWorks 7 real time operating system, which enables reliability in multitasking execution of applications. Programming is carried out using the standard IEC 61131-3 languages, supplemented by C/C++ and MATLAB®/Simulink®, which is particularly advantageous for demanding control or monitoring tasks. If performance requirements increase, the standardized programming model allows easy migration to more powerful CPU models in the series. The MX208 operates at temperatures ranging from -30°C to +60°C, making it ideal for maritime and offshore applications. Special coating processes and a generous thermal design ensure that the CPU operates with reliability even under harsh conditions. The IP20 degree of protection and protection class III in accordance with applicable standards underlines the safety-oriented design.

Ganter is expanding its portfolio with a completely new product family: a thoroughly designed selection of various casters and wheels. Ganter’s standard parts selection is growing once again – with the recent addition of an entirely new category for wheels and casters. The establishment of the new catalog group 3.10 is a clear indication that these mobility-enabling standard parts will have all the room they need. That is only logical given that the wheels and casters serve to complement their proven but static leveling feet relatives, which are available in many different versions. As always, Ganter is entirely focused on practical requirements: the individual types are organized according to the applicable ISO testing procedures, making it easy to associate them with the most important configuration parameters. For example, the new range includes light duty casters with low load capacity, medium duty casters for industrial use and heavy duty casters designed for high dynamic loads coupled with higher travel speeds. Casters are ready-to-install parts consisting of a wheel and a bracket, with the latter generally made of bent sheet steel, except for the heavy duty versions of welded steel. The bracket, available in swivel or fixed versions, holds the wheel and serves for mounting the caster. Fixed casters provide lateral guidance to ensure stable travel both straight and on curves. The swivel brackets with ball bearings enable maximum maneuverability with 360-degree rotation and movement in any direction, a property that is particularly advantageous in tight spaces. Optionally integrated total lock brakes prevent the wheel from turning or rotating in the steering axis, and variants are also available with extendable leveling feet for an even more secure stand. Within the product line Y-Con RJ45, the Y-Con Cover-40, which has been established for years, has now been replaced by a new metal cover, namely the Y-Con Cover-40 PP with push-pull locking. It facilitates and simplifies handling, with the cover automatically locking or unlocking during the plugging or unplugging process. The new cover also complies with protection ratings IP67/ IP68/ IP69K and is therefore suitable for the harshest industrial environments. It is characterised by high robustness, temperature resistance and durability and is largely protected against vibrations. Reliable data and optional power transmission is thus reliably guaranteed. Of course, the new cover is backwards compatible with the components used so far. This means that IP67/ IP68/ IP69K components already in use can also be connected to the new connector system. The metal cover can be installed in the usual simple self-assembly manner with Y-Con cable plugs and cables. The reduction of individual parts has also reduced complexity and the error rate during assembly for the customer. In addition, the new version offers an enlarged sealing surface and improved EMI protection. Furthermore, the new cover allows the processing of different cable diameters from 6.1 mm to max. 7.1 mm. With the new RT6A100 rotary table, Föhrenbach is expanding its rotary table portfolio. The RT6A impresses with a new type of bearing for the turntable. The integrated crossed roller bearing provides high rigidity and can support high loads. High concentricity and axial run-out accuracy are a matter of course. The rotary table is driven by a worm gear with a gear ratio of i=36:1 and simple, dimension-oriented backlash adjustment.nVarious stepper or servo motors from the Föhrenbach standard program are available for the drive. Optionally, the motor flange can also be adapted to third-party motors. The rotary table can be additionally equipped with various types of limit/reference point switches, as well as various functions. The rotary table can be used in all mounting positions. These indicate the state of the guard or other operating conditions. The new P-KUBE safety handles are a built-in and innovative solution which permits to optimise the cost of components by eliminating peripheral control boxes and illuminated signalling columns. For the first time, Schmersal launched a safety light grid with a built-in Bluetooth interface. The SLC440/COM with Bluetooth BLE is an active optoelectronic protective device that makes all status and diagnostic data on the operating status of the device available on smartphones or tablets via a Bluetooth interface on a real-time basis. The Bluetooth interface also supports easy start-up using a smartphone or tablet with the integrated setup aid. There is also the excellent option of saving the data, which can then be used, for example, to document a repeat test or for predictive maintenance purposes. The transmission of data to smartphones / tablets (Android, IOS) is facilitated by an app developed by Schmersal. BLE stands for Bluetooth Low Energy, a radio system for near-field data transmission with secure transmission. This innovative technology for optoelectronic safety systems is unique with respect to the range over which the data can be communicated. This means the BLE interface is perfect when the opto-electronic safety system is in a relatively inaccessible position. Bluetooth BLE also offers a greater range of applications. As Bluetooth is an international industrial standard, the 440/COM range of light grids with Bluetooth BLE interface can be used all over the world. The SLC440/COM with Bluetooth BLE enable significantly improved efficiency in production processes. As the status data of the light grids can be accessed easily and in real-time, errors can be resolved more quickly to achieve increased machine availability. This status information and diagnostic data enables processes to be reactivated more quickly, particularly in the event of a system shutdown if a hazard is detected. It also represents a really economical innovation as, compared to classic Bluetooth, BLE is characterised by considerably lower energy consumption and reduced costs at a similarly high communication range.
