“Our capabilities and services are so extensive and specialized that they could hardly be presented in a company catalog,” explain Martina Götz and Mathias Schmid with broad, proud grins. The siblings are celebrating their tenth anniversary this year, having taken over the family business from their parents, Werner and Ruth Schmid, and thus becoming managing partners in 2014. “For us, it was always a given that we would follow in our parents’ footsteps,” they both say in unison. “In keeping with our family philosophy of ‘punctual, reliable, always there,’ we have simply tried to instill these virtues in the company and our employees over the past decade.” Spezialkabel Schmid GmbH is a long-established company that has made its mark on the international market with cable assembly and specialty cables. Founded on April 7, 1979, as a sole proprietorship under the name „Kabel und Zubehör Vertrieb von Werner Schmid“ the company from Affing-Mühlhausen recently celebrated 45 years of successful business. “First-class cable quality is crucial because, in the worst-case scenario, it can prevent a million-dollar device or a costly process from functioning,” points out Mathias Schmid, a trained electrician. The head of technology and production summarizes: “We assemble cables and wires ranging from hair-thin to thumb-thick, primarily for data transmission. We supply industries and companies in sectors including mechanical engineering, camera technology, measurement, dosing, and testing technology, as well as special vehicle construction.”
“We manufacture exclusively in Germany because quality and quick, local access to suppliers and customers are important to us. We want to conduct business on a strong foundation of mutual trust,” explains Martina Götz, the company’s trained foreign trade specialist and accountant.
