On a site totaling approximately 11,000 square meters, SMW-AUTOBLOK is building its factory of the future at its headquarters in Meckenbeuren, southern Germany. With this €25 million investment, the company aims to send a positive signal in every respect, as Managing Director Eckhard Maurer stated in his welcoming address: “With this new digital factory, we are focusing not only on growth, but also on sustainability, technology, and Germany as a business location.” A place of innovation and sustainability: With the new production facility, SMW-AUTOBLOK and SMW-electronics will further expand their business activities. The factory will play a central role in the development and production of innovative solutions for automation and clamping technology. These will range from gripping systems for robots and inductive coupling systems to mechatronic and hybrid clamping devices for machine tools. Digitized processes and artificial intelligence will support the 60 employees who will work there in the future. According to Maurer, the SMW Factory Airport will be a place of progress and innovation. The spaces will be designed to foster creative, productive, and efficient work. Employees should be able to realize their best ideas. The building will also be groundbreaking in terms of sustainability. It will operate entirely CO2-neutrally, utilizing heating and cooling systems based on geothermal energy and photovoltaics. The SMW Factory Airport, the future SMW-AUTOBLOK production facility, gets its name from its location. It is being built in the Meckenbeuren Airport industrial park, in the immediate vicinity of Friedrichshafen Airport. Completion of the factory is planned for March 2026, with operations commencing in the second half of 2026.
